The atmosphere of a school must be conducive to learning. A student’s appearance can positively or negatively impact the climate of a school. Students must adhere to DeKalb School District dress code requirements. Students who fail to comply with the DeKalb School District dress code requirements may be charged with Offense 25: Dress Code Violation, Offense #8b–Refusal to Follow Instructions, and/or Offense #19a–Repeated Violations of School Rules. However, Stephenson Middle School has adopted a uniform dress policy. All students are expected to adhere to the new dress code. Students who fail to comply with Stephenson Middle School uniform dress code policy will be charged with Offense 25: Dress Code Violation, Offense #8b–Refusal to Follow Instructions, and/or Offense #19a–Repeated Violations of School Rules.
Uniform Tops
Collared Polo shirts or Oxford button-down shirts in school colors: Royal Blue, Black or White (All shirts for boys and girls must have a collar.) Sweaters, jackets and hoodies must be solid white, black, or royal blue.
Uniform Bottoms
Pants, Skirts, or Bermuda-Style shorts: Black or Khaki
Length of skirt and shorts must be finger-tip
Tightness of uniform bottoms must be dress code appropriate
Uniform Foot Wear
Solid black, solid white or solid brown shoes-athletic, loafer/flats
The shoe should provide a protective covering
Socks/Tights/Leggings must be solid black, solid white or solid brown
Uniform Belts
Solid black or brown
School administrators have the final authority to determine when personal appearance and dress do not meet school standards.
